Florida Senate Advances Bill Mandating Vape Makers Disclose Lack of FDA Approval

The Florida Senate panel approved SB 1006, a bill proposed by Sen. Keith Perry, which mandates nicotine product manufacturers to label their products as not approved by the FDA and register them with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. The bill aims to create an online directory for retailers and wholesalers to verify the legality of products being sold. Supporters argue it will help curb youth vaping, citing statistics on vape use among Florida students, while opponents, including small business owners, argue it benefits big tobacco companies and imposes unnecessary regulations. The bill will now move to the Fiscal Policy Committee for further consideration and is slated to take effect on Oct. 1 if fully passed.
