The Historic Downtowner and Maxwell Room, a popular Fort Lauderdale spot for cocktails near the New River, will close on October 6 after more than 30 years. Located at 10 S. New River Dr. E., the venue has a long history, originally opening as the Maxwell Arcade in 1925. Over the years, the Maxwell Room has hosted weddings, receptions, corporate events, Sunday brunch, and Tuesday trivia.
